2019 Iyengar Yoga Teacher Education Program at Sunset Yoga Center
With Nina Pileggi, Intermediate Junior III Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor
This Iyengar Yoga Teacher Education Program will explore in-depth B.K.S. Iyengar’s teaching methodology. It is meant for students just beginning their teaching journey as well as teachers who are already Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers. This program may count as hours towards meeting the requirement to assess at the Introductory I/II level, but does not, by itself, qualify you to assess.
The program will meet quarterly in 2019. Each weekend will have an in-depth focus on one or more of the Principles of the Iyengar Yoga method. Students will be assigned preparatory material and homework appropriate to the certification level they are working towards. Students are strongly encouraged to develop a mentorship relationship with a CIYT.
Weekend 1: Principles of Demonstration and Principles of Instruction
Weekend 2: Principles of Instruction and Principles of Observation
Weekend 3: Principles of Observation and Principles of Correction
Weekend 4: Bringing it all together – sequencing, pacing, teaching presence, and refinements.
Additional topics will also be covered each weekend.
Class sessions will be Friday 6-9pm, Saturday 12:30 – 5:30pm and Sunday noon – 4pm.
Prerequisites: Three years of weekly classes with a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT).
Co-requirements: Ongoing weekly class attendance with a CIYT (if available). If there is no teacher available in your area, other arrangements will be discussed with you.
Expectations: Attendance at all four weekends, completion of homework and assignments.
Cost: $900. $450 Due by January 15, $450 due July 15th
